It's Uhh, Raining... Let's Cook.

Andi told us yesterday that our area would be under a flood warning until sometime on Friday. We had a hard time initially believing that since there wasn't a cloud in the sky when she said it.

..... We live in the midwest. Why would I have thought the weather would be temperamental??! It rained today. It rained a lot today. I came across a few pictures from friends who live down on the air force base; apparently there are several places in the area that look this way today. My thoughts go out to everyone who's been affected by flooding. It's been one heck of a week.
whoa. flood.
It was a craaazy busy day at work, which is no surprise. We managed to capture Linda in a moment of song, though, and that definitely brightened the day. It's a shame we never caught footage of her and I doing a duet on this song, but I really don't enjoy videos of myself all that much as it is, so this was just fine ;)

Work aside, I made a stop at the store to grab a few things and headed back to the house. Rob got off work early today, so he was already there. I made a start into dinner, as promised yesterday: stuffed peppers. It's been a long time since I've made these, and it's a different recipe than I'd used before, so I admit I was a little nervous. They came out just fine though; I have to admit, I was pretty proud of them ;)
potatoes & peppers... yummm
Not too bad! And to follow it up, cookies! One of the guys at Rob's work was selling cookie dough for his kid, so we opted for a random baking session to round out the evening. I've gotta hand it to him, this boy's quite the baker. Oh, and SHOUTS to Kanice for the awesome ninjabread men cookie cutters! We put them to good use!
ninjabread men!
We had some photobooth fun, too. [//edit! I promised to add a few of the photobooth goodies. It's more like, a couple - two exactly, to be precise. Oh well. You'll be okay]
what...?
.... you thought these were gonna be normal? ;)

Owl Illusions [Art Post]

owl I shot at the bluegrass festival with catie (:
I know.
I've got this thing for owls. Haha.

It's gotten to the point where everyone else has noticed it, too. Here's a few of the little diddies that I've found over the last few days and/or have been sent to me from friends who recognize my affinity for these beautiful creatures.

It's a Macro Kinda Day

I love macros. I was in a funk when I woke up this morning and Kanice managed to send me a macro [unwarranted] she found:

true story.
So, since my nerves have been something of up, down, and side to side lately, I thought I'd soothe my brain with some macros.

Good call. I picked some characteristics I would like to embody for the next indefinite future, and went with that. I'm continuously amazed by the power of photography. [and no, these aren't mine]. Enjoy. ♥

conceptual.
simple. dreamlike.
whimsical. & fun.

Horoscope : Saggittarius

I'm not the type of person that usually puts any sort of real stock into horoscopes. I think at one point way back when I worked for Clearchannel, I crash landed on a daily mailing list for one of the horoscope dealers; as accurate as those things seemed to be, I never really bothered to try and read too deep into the astrological alignment of somethingsomethingsomething....

As that case may be, my dear Kanice sent this my way today. As much as I strained to resist its content, I do have to say it carries a bit of truth to it. And by bit, I mean a whole whopping truckload.

See for yourself.

I have no idea who writes these things, but I think it's kind of funny. I thought over it, and I reminded myself that this is not ture for everyone, because I do know a few gals born within days of me who don't fit this mold at all, but as it concerns me, I'm afraid this hits the nail square on the head. Haha.

Thanks, Kanice.

I'm totally going to embrace that whole comfort and not style thing today. I'll blame it on the stars. ;) Watch me go... haha.

As Max Says It...

One of my adorable friends sisters, if we're counting longevity and emotional connectivity ;), posted this up on my fb yesterday, tagging myself and a few of others. I felt it entirely appropriate to the string of recent happenings in my life, and the attitude adjustment I've forced myself to recognize in overcoming a couple different hurdles. It's nothing unmanageable, so don't fear; I'm good :). It was more a staunch reminder that life is still life, and as a participant, I am still human, capable of great feats and also major fails at the same time.

Six days ago, my friend Molly had shared this quote, verbatum, from author Max Lucado, and at that exact moment in time, it felt as though I needed to see that more than any other combination of words. Yesterday, my dear Kanice slapped this puppy right up on my page as a reminder that it really is possible to move on and let things go. Take heed, folks. I know I did. Moll & K have never met, but I'm not certain that God wants me to take this theory and commit it to heart. Consider it done.

I've said it countless times before, but it won't stand as false to repeat: the people that I've been blessed to have incorporated in my life are of a calibur to be admired. I'm blessed, in ways not measurable by any standard other than my best efforts to reciprocate their love, support, and encouragement. God is good, all the time.

[and all the time, God is GOOD!]

----

dear mom, notice the 0 mph.
i wasn't moving & photographing.
i promise :).

It was blazing hot outside today, at least for May in the midwest. I snapped this little guy while I was waiting at a red light earlier today. I made my way over to the park to spend lunch in my car. It seemed a little counterproductive and certainly unfair to the environment, as I sat with my AC on yet with the windows cracked as I trodded through a few more chapters of a book I've been reading.

midday reading? i'm for it!

Speaking of, five totally useless points for you if you can identify this book just from its cover without Googling it. :) It really isn't that hard, but in case you're really trying to no avail, I'll give you a few hints:

1. It's the third in a trilogy.
2. The first was just recently made into a major box office smash hit.
3. Katniss Everdeen!

^ I'm not helping you anymore if you didn't get it yet. Haha.

Oh, and I received a call from Trish this morning asking me to stand in for her this Sunday for praise team; I delightfully obliged, and so dedicated my evening to church and praise team practice.

It's been a productive day; it's [still!] gorgeous outside and Friday is juuuuuust around one more corner! :)
