Confession: I do love some Harley Quinn. I can't say that I was an avid Batman comic reader in my earlier years, nor am I really now, but I do love comics in general. And NO, I haven't chosen sides or any particular allegiance to DC, Marvel, Capcom, etc. Whatev.
But yeah, Harley Quinn... she's just fun.
There was the time that Jessica and I took on Batman villians and Harley was where I landed:

Margot Robbie nailed this character [I think]:

The rest of the cast did their thing, too..
yes.
And why are we not talking about Jai Courtney? Or are we, and I'm just not savvy to it? Seriously, this guy's super talented. And funny. And 'Oh thaaat's who that guy is!' - is kinda what I said when I saw this, too.

This movie really wasn't what I'd expected, but it was good! I couldn't tell you exactly what I was expecting, really, but it wasn't this.. haha. I'll prooooobably watch this again, several times later on when it's out, though. JS.
Here we aaaare, smack dab in the middle of another week of organized mayhem.. haha. Today was a bit on the taxing side; it's one of those seasons of life where we are challenged with difficult and immovable people, if for no other reason than to continue refining our own character and tenacity. It is a marathon in this particular season, and although today aired more on the brutal side, I've come to a realization of the light at the end of the tunnel, if you will. Soon. Very soon :)
So with that in my heart, it was easy to transition into my evening, complete with my small group and a night of games, snacks and open-hearted fellowship. I am so. wildly. grateful for this group of people, especially on a night when I really needed some encouragement. My small group is where it's at, when it comes to prayer warriors and real people living real lives, bringing practical application and wise advice in whatever subject is on the table.
Tonight though, we took a break from our regularly weekly studies and just... hung out.
It was so, so, SO very needed.
SO, in the spirit of the Olympics, we decided as a group to play something with medaling potential. That something was decidedly SPOONS. If you've never played before, you're missing out. If you have, you'll understand then that we issued each other preemptive apologies for any and everything that might be said during play ;).
It started with 8 of us.
And then there were 7.
And then 6.
The semi finals came down to Jen, Scott & Randy:
Randy missed the grab during the semi finals, which left Jen & Scott to battle it out for the gold. Scott, in what we determined to be reverence to his wife [and that happy life, har har], conceded the victory to Jen, who's spoon-grabbing reflexes are so far unrivaled.
Nice job, Jen!
From what I hear, there are actual Olympics happening somewhere else... or something like that. :p
I'm kidding, of course. These games have kept us all up well past our bedtimes. *Yawn.
Fact: We were out late last night.
Fact: We were out way too late last night, according to my body....which has apparently become unaccustomed to a) being out late and b) going to places like OTR.... late.
Fact: I feel much older than I am in this precise, physical moment.
Yesterday had its highlights, followed by the unfortunate mishap last night. We came home, crash landed in our beds and let the exhaustion take the wheel. Rob and I awoke this morning to an empty guest room and a farewell note from Taryn & Kenny, who'd left sometime earlier than 10am.
Since our guests headed out before breakfast, we took liberties with any real plans for the day. Rob took to the laptop to research his phone replacement options, and I took to the recliner to watch some Olympic coverage, drink my morning lemon water and snuggle with 145 lbs of dog:
Uh-huh.
Eventually we made it out of the house, got breakfast, did some grocery shopping and retrieved the boat from storage, where we'd left it yesterday. Rob was able to identify the parts that needed repair, and spent the afternoon reconstructing the damaged pumps. As one last public service announcement to any and all of you boaters out there: USE YOUR HEADS out there! We are so indebted to each other when we're all out on the water, for trusting each other to understand and demonstrate basic common sense on the water. Gahhhhh.. haha. I'll stop ranting, but I really hope that you'll go back and read yesterday's entry... especially if you're one of us who loves the water and sharing that fun with others on a boat.
Anyway, it turned into a relaxing day, with plenty of leg room for smaller household chores and miscellaneous things we both wanted to accomplish. We'll cap it off with some more Olympic coverage and call this one a wrap. The work week resumes tomorrow and I'm sure we'll need a good boost of energy to get us both started.
This post has nothing to do with my life, but literally everything to do with a part of my childhood:
This. Movie.
Yep. That's the case of HOOK, reunited after 25 years. Oh, Dante Basco.
Be still, 6-year-old me.
To The Chive: Thank you for sharing this collabo with the world, and me... :D
I think that's a sufficient dose of nostalgia for now. I loved this, and I hope any of my other 80's babies out there who have a special place in their heart for this movie like I do.
I'm keepin' it light today. Enjoy the week, loves!
