It's a New Week!

Yes, yes it was.

One of my favorite things is a collection of people who can suffer joyfully through something together. One of my not-so-favorite things is that the reason we're suffering is because midwest weather seems to be having a midlife crisis. As a result, I along with a bucket of my fellow Ohioans are feeling the glowing effects: sinus infections, colds, flu, bronchitis, strep and delightfully-disgusting things that are coughed up first thing in the morning.

Beautiful visual, eh?

What I do look forward to on Mondays, for now at least:

And no, I didn't mean jumping ship after the standard Monday [although fitting, yes!]; Mondays mean new episodes of Shadowhunters, and I think it goes without saying I'm a hooked fan. I'm still 110% surprised at how much I don't hate all the plot departures in the show (vs. the books). When we got hit with Lydia in season 1, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to handle these, but now that there's been a shift change with the writers, all the non-booky things seem to be weaving a course of their own that's still comprehensive, and dare I say it's kind nice?

^ If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you really need to read the books. Honestly, I'd start with The Infernal Devices and work your way through those before The Mortal Instruments. It's all just... so good. So. Good.

SPEAAAAKING of TMI, this this THIS THIS THIS THISSSSS came today and I'm tripping over myself in excitement. I've been hunting this specific edition of Lady Midnight down since just before CHRISTMAS, when I spotted it on a couple of my favorite book instagrammers' feeds (bookstagrammers?). I learned it's a limited edition, and mostly specific to the UK. The Book Depository website told me it was out of stock, and the only available copy I could find in the U.S. via Ebay was going for over $200. I think not. THEN, just when I had a friend living in London who offered to procure this from a Waterstones and send it to me, Book Depository emailed me to let me know it was back in stock, and well.. the rest is history. This gem arrived today, from Australia, and it is even more beautiful than I'd imagined! ♥♥♥♥
i. am. swooooning.
#nerdstuff #goldenrunes
It's so.. beautiful. And it adds so nicely to the mantle shelf, which speaking of that.. is going away hopefully this weekend, if not very soon thereafter. The last thing I need is to replace a broken mantle and whatever book damage happens when gravity has had enough :p

So I'm outta here; it's time for the episode. One of these days I'll channel my inner Christine Riccio and do a book or episode review. We'll see. We'll see.

Work. Oh, Yeah, That Too :)

My picking this book up is Britta's fault. I want to share the spoilers with everything and everyone within earshot, because I love it so much. Today, I purposefully toted it to work with me, and enveloped myself in a half hour of stillness on my lunch break to continue reading. I'm nearly finished, which makes me sad in its own way, but it's a familiar feeling I have with so many of my favorite books.
lunch break reads♥
With work checked off the day's list, it was time to get home and get back to the gym.
I haven't worked out since 2016. [heheh..] < It's corny, I know, and we're in the first month of not 2016, but the sinus infection that I had last week would've made for quite the scene of me wheezing and eventually/inevitably either passing out or vomiting all over the equipment. BUT, now I'm back, feeling my face again [which is a relic I don't appreciate until it's impossible to do, I've realized], and ready to get back on track with the task of hunting down all.ze.gains. ALL ZE GAINS.

cashed.
Whhhheeew. I'm spent. Not a bad way to end hump day.
We're on the home stretch now - two more days til the weekend! :)

[& Her Tea Party Awaits....]

My sister sent me this today, which is set up in "Sydni's" room [aka, my old bedroom] back at my parents' house:

adorable.
little tea set!
This made me super nostalgic to go home and visit. Thankfully, we'll be headed there in a few short weeks.

Meanwhile, back at our casa, there was this to enjoy:
♥ them to the moon and back, with all their silliness!
And really, that's all I could ask for (:

TGIF!

The Best of Two Pitchers

Holy cow.

How did I NOT  know about this [or imagine creating it] before today?!

-- Thanks to Nancy, this has totally revolutionized my decision-making process as it pertains to the not-really-that-relevent-but-totally-practical question of, tea or lemonade?

oh. my. goodness.
loooooove.
Howsabout  BOTH? Yeah? Yeah. :)

Oh, and the rest of today was pretty decent too. It wasn't yesterday, but it sure wasn't bad. :)

Elvis & Echinacea

"I don't know anything about music. In my line, you don't have to."

Who said it?

I'll give you some hints:
Rockabilly.
Caped White Jumpsuit.
Nothin'? Okay, how about:
Hound Dog.
Jailhouse Rock.
Still nothin'? Okay, here's your last chance:
GRACELAND.

If you haven't guessed by now, I really can't help you. Haha. I've never been much of an Elvis fan; that's not to say I dislike him necessarily, just never really took an interest in proactively playing his work. My mother-in-law is an allegiant fan of Mr. Presley; she and Joe's aunt make annual trips to Graceland to engulf themselves in a weekend of homage to the late legend. Today, the undisputed king of Rock and Roll himself touched down in Glen Carbon, IL. Not him, or an impersonator, but a collaborated album of just some of his famed Christmas hits. Nancy is my office's resident Elvis fan, and this morning she came to work with the day's soundtrack in hand. We spent the day off and on listening to Elvis serenade us with that timeless charm that so sweepingly captivated women all across the country in the middle of the 20th century. It put a little spunk to an otherwise repetitive day, which was a welcomed change in the normal flow.

In addition to adding some Elvis to the office, I made it a point this year to add a few other things to my desk.

The transitional time from fall to winter seems to be quite the popular period of time for little bugs to spread out and make people sick. Last year, I went through an awful spell, throughout which I lost my voice, had interrupting coughing fits, battled migraines, and even visited a doctor in a desperate attempt to shake whatever had caught up with me. Yeah. Me... at a doctor. It was that bad. I made a resolution that I would do everything within my preventative power to avoid repeating the experience this year. To aid in my efforts, I'm surrounding myself with some little soldiers: Echinacea, vitamin C, honey, and a plethora of various brewable hot teas. I'm fortifying my arsenal with some good old fashioned hand sanitizer; I shake various hands and touch all kinds of surfaces throughout the day, so enlisting the help of a 99.99% germ killer seems both appropriate and proactive. If I get sick this winter, it won't be for lack of trying. So THERE! :)

And the week is underway....

Constant Comment

It's FREDNESDAY!!

Pardon me for taking it upon myself to create a new day. Frednesday is the leap year child of Wednesday and Friday that happens when Wednesday takes the place of Friday in the work week cycle and is therefore the last work day of the week.

Erego, Frednesday.

constant comment | ♥
We left work at noon today, and so before I get to packing up all our gear for the long haul back to Ohio, I thought I'd take a moment to thank Nancy for tuning me in to Constant Comment, a tea with which I have now fallen in love, thanks to Nanc. I'd never heard of it before I started working here, not to say that it wasn't readily available at Kroger's back home; I just never tried it. I have to say it's a welcome change in my routine green tea cycle [of which I owe thanks to Michael Moreno... ].

Well, like I said, I've got a lot to do to get ready for this evening. I suppose we'll bid the blog adieu until tomorrow.

See you in Ohio!
