Micah 6:8

Since we started our 40 Days in the Word study two weeks ago, one of our core purposes as a group has been to develop an idea encompassing of what Micah 6:8 instructs us to do. I shared in yesterday's entry exactly what our initial thoughts are at this point, but I thought it would be fitting to share the actual verse with those of you who haven't yet seen it, or simply need a refresher.

This particular inscribing is pretty cool because it's on a dog tag given to Joe by our pastor. I've said it before and I'll say it another hundred times: We have landed in a church living out loud for God. I am so excited to be a part of this place, its body, and its work. It pains to realize that some of our friends we've made here are military, and so by default will eventually receive orders to pack up and relocate; we've met some of the most incredible people through Towerview. [Thank you, Lord; YOU ARE GOOD!]

In other random and entirely unrelated news:

keyloid remedy?
we'll see :)

I heard via the store cashier today that apply the gel contained within regular vitamin C&E capsules directly onto keyloid scars such as mine is a rather effective remedy for their sometimes garrish appearance. I'll have to be frank on this one: I very rarely notice them anymore, but apparently other people do, and for the first time in a while, I didn't mind when the gal started up a conversation regarding my scars. I think I'm gonna give it a run, though. I really don't care much about the existence of these things, but it would be nice if the one on my should disappeared, as it seems to always be an issue with seatbelts, shirt straps, and purses. [First world problem, I know.] I'll keep ya posted.

Tomorrow's the Hallmark of all Hallmark holidays. Get some sleep, Cupid.

Elvis & Echinacea

"I don't know anything about music. In my line, you don't have to."

Who said it?

I'll give you some hints:
Rockabilly.
Caped White Jumpsuit.
Nothin'? Okay, how about:
Hound Dog.
Jailhouse Rock.
Still nothin'? Okay, here's your last chance:
GRACELAND.

If you haven't guessed by now, I really can't help you. Haha. I've never been much of an Elvis fan; that's not to say I dislike him necessarily, just never really took an interest in proactively playing his work. My mother-in-law is an allegiant fan of Mr. Presley; she and Joe's aunt make annual trips to Graceland to engulf themselves in a weekend of homage to the late legend. Today, the undisputed king of Rock and Roll himself touched down in Glen Carbon, IL. Not him, or an impersonator, but a collaborated album of just some of his famed Christmas hits. Nancy is my office's resident Elvis fan, and this morning she came to work with the day's soundtrack in hand. We spent the day off and on listening to Elvis serenade us with that timeless charm that so sweepingly captivated women all across the country in the middle of the 20th century. It put a little spunk to an otherwise repetitive day, which was a welcomed change in the normal flow.

In addition to adding some Elvis to the office, I made it a point this year to add a few other things to my desk.

The transitional time from fall to winter seems to be quite the popular period of time for little bugs to spread out and make people sick. Last year, I went through an awful spell, throughout which I lost my voice, had interrupting coughing fits, battled migraines, and even visited a doctor in a desperate attempt to shake whatever had caught up with me. Yeah. Me... at a doctor. It was that bad. I made a resolution that I would do everything within my preventative power to avoid repeating the experience this year. To aid in my efforts, I'm surrounding myself with some little soldiers: Echinacea, vitamin C, honey, and a plethora of various brewable hot teas. I'm fortifying my arsenal with some good old fashioned hand sanitizer; I shake various hands and touch all kinds of surfaces throughout the day, so enlisting the help of a 99.99% germ killer seems both appropriate and proactive. If I get sick this winter, it won't be for lack of trying. So THERE! :)

And the week is underway....

Hello, Upswing | Hello, Twelve!

YESSSSS....

I woke up this morning with some sinus pressure, which I'm assuming is because I've got a sinus infection. [Oh well]. The good news: I can feel myself on an upswing!

My mother deserves all the thanks in the world for educating me on the right way to handle this sort of thing. Anyone who knows me knows that I haven't touched anything even resembling a tylenol in years. I just can't bring myself to do it. Don't think that I judge anyone who does; it's just not my thing. I'm not a huge follower of Western Medicine's typical approach: "RX, RX, RX... ." I've found that if I follow holistic methods properly and consistently [at least for minor stuff like I've got now], I'll see the same results without that bandaid effect.

My saving graces:

|| echinacea ||
|| been relying on this stuff since childhood ||
|| by Herb Pharm ||

|| vitamin c + echinacea + elderberry extract ||
|| my immune system ♥'s these little chewables ||
|| by Integrative Therapeutics, Inc. ||

I can already feel the pressure in my head subsiding, and the feelings of vertigo I had this morning are starting to dissipate as well. Here's hoping the rest of today and the rest of this week show equal signs of improvement. I'm feelin' pretty good......... fingers crossed!

|| breakfast ||
|| greek yogurt + blueberries + pear slices + green tea ||
|| p.s. - tastebudes activated!||

Oh yeah, and I'm tasting things, now, too.
SCORE.
:]
Happy Wednesday!
