St. Patrick's Supercross!

Weeeeeellp.... we planned on an earlier start than what we got this morning, but it turned out pretty daggone good, all things considered. That's just like us, isn't it? ;)

So we got moving finally, Rob and I, on the road to Indianapolis, to rendezvous with Dillon & Dylan and continue on to the 2015 Supercross. This would not be a repeat of our time here in 2013, we were certain, but there were plenty of jokes to go around that it would be just as interesting..

The drive to Indianapolis is a range of trees, city and overpass driving; we made it with no issue to the outskirts of the city, where we met up with D&D at the hotel we'd planned to stay the night. I'm sure at one point it had seen days of glory, but the honest truth about it now is that it's a shady, rundown dive that scared me a little just being there to check in.. haha.

The four of us made our way into the city, where the traffic was already dense; it's St. Patrick's Day weekend in Indy. There was a marathon taking place early in the day, on top of streets closed for St. Pat's festivities. On the edge of all that was Supercross, where we were going.

heeeeeeeere we go!
We parked eventually and met up with some of the other guys who came in from Illinois for the event, and hung around with them for a while before we eventually got separated inside the Lucas Oil Stadium a few hours later. The tickets we bought came with pit passes, so we took advantage of those and explored the pit areas with a few thousand of our closest fan friends.

Before long, it was time for the races to start; Rob's boss & his wife met with us, and the last two last-minute entries were soon behind them: Becky & Mike! Poor Becky - bikes doing laps in the dirt for 4 hours really wasn't her thing, but she was a solid sport and seemed to at least enjoy the company if nothing else.. haha. [[Thanks again, Becks, for coming!!]

and this.. waiting on the 450s to start ..
Dungey took 1st place in the main 450 event, which seemed to be a generally-predicted outcome, but as always, proved to be an edge-of-the-seat sight to watch.
dungey!
We wrapped up at the stadium with no issue, and somehow made it to and into seats in the restaurant of Chip & Beth's hotel without much of a wait at all. Some late night grub to wind down, and then the decision of how the rest of the evening would be spent. Mike & Becky came to the conclusion that they weren't really feeling the vibe of staying overnight, especially since we were all slated to share a hotel room. After some consideration, I voted to ride back with them, which I later realized was a perfect decision..
a shot we shared for mare!
Oh, and this is just a little backdated. We got here around 1am last night, and there was no room for blogging at that point. Either way, it was an excellent time with awesome people, and a sure improvement on the first go-round.. haha.

Happy Supercross!

Indianapolis | Reds Opener | April FOOLS!

So.... Rob and I awoke this morning to an EMPTY parking spot where our RENTAL car had been sitting the night before. Thanks, a lot, Cincinnati police.

You know what else?
HAPPY

!!!
Yeah, we didn't get towed. Not even close. We actually got an early start out since it was opening day for the Reds and downtown Cincinnati goes completely insane by 11am. We didn't feel like getting caught in street closures and all that jazz, so we made a break for it before the madness ensued.

That being said, .... LET'S GO REDS!!!!!

let's go redlegs!!!!
Once we were out of Cincinnati, we made a pit stop in Indianapolis for lunch and a couple of other things. I ran across this sign, and had to share, because I find myself constantly being the sole witness to weird stuff like this. I mentioned before that Indianapolis reminds me now of an excerpt from District 12 of The Hunger Games, so this just served to justify my conclusion. What. A. Weirdo. Place.

ok? sure thing, indy.

We're HOME now, with the evening still wide open. We stopped at the house long enough to let Stella out, then stuff her into the truck so we could return the rental car. We did that, made a quick pitstop at Target for some dinner food [which is sitting idle in the fridge as we speak; our tired tails just ordered in... don't judge, heh]. We laughed, because Rob had drawn some sunlight for us on the inside of the windshield on our way to Cincy and had forgotten to scrub it off before we hit the rental car place... lol, woops.

oh, sunny dayyyy! (:
Stella had started to take on the smell of dirt, since all she does outside is barrel roll down the yard every chance she gets. With Rob's help, we hoisted her into the bathtub and gave that poor girl a doggie shower. She hated every second of it, but I can safely say she's not a completely different color. Note to self: I need to do this more often. Haha. Next step is cutting down those bag lady claws she has. We'll get there.

our beautiful stella pittie, so fresh & clean!

It feels so good to be home. Plus, we've now got a 4-day week ;) I don't mind that... at... all (:

AMA Supercross : Indianapolis

This is backdated.
.... & I don't care.

Soooooo.. in the spirit of being random, Rob and I took off this morning on a semi-scripted road trip to Indianapolis. It's scheduled for me to get Sydni tomorrow here, so we figured we would go ahead and make a weekend venture out of it. A few of his friends were already slated to go to the AMA SX event here today, so we decided we'd either do that, or find something else to get into and just meet up with his friends later. Yep, we're random like that.

Supercross it was! We got last minute tickets and joined the other three for the evening. It was hotel, food and AMA. I could only laugh at Rob for taking a powernap during the 250 prelim heats: "wake me up when 450 starts." Haha.

catnap? sure. yep, i ♥ him.
Here's a few other randoms from the AMA evening:

Aaaand...... of course, a video.

Yeah......
As for the REST of the night, well .... All I can say is that there won't be a trip back to Indianapolis for any of us ANY time soon [at least not of our own free will; we'll leave it that way]. It was a fiasco to say the least, but the good news is, we're all heading home soon so no... complaining there.

Oh, and happy Saturday St. Pats to all of you crazy Irish kids out there ;)

We Are STAFF! [&Welcome Home, Syd!]

Another LOADED Sunday! I'm allllll for it!

with joe | with sydni | with cori
- the dills love you, eric!
.: ONE :.
Happy birthday, Eric!!
This is Joe's best friend from years ago and still now. He has been a great friend not only to Joe, but to me as well, especially during the time that Joe was gone for military training. I knew if we needed anything, we could count on him. He's Sydni's "Uncle Eric," and we wish him the very very best birthday today!

It looks like we're headed to see Eric in September in Colorado - looking forward to it :)

.: TWO :.

It's baptism time! This is the third Sunday in a row [amen? AMEN!] Over the course of VBS, I worked alongside the Burden girls Kirsten & Kaitlyn. Their little brother Tanner went into the baptismal today, followed by Maia! I still remember my baptism; it was an incredible feeling and I love that there are youth in our church getting to experience that same emotion. God is GOOD!

tanner & maia | congratulations!!!
.: THREE :.

posting on the towerview fb page after church! :)
Today was my Sunday downstairs in the nursery, so I wasn't present for the final verdict in what was a church-wide vote determining whether or not Joe would become an assistant pastor intern at Towerview. I came up at the end of the service to find that he'd been voted in with a 95%, so we are officially STAFF at Towerview! Joe now continues on under the mentorship of our senior pastor Ron and assistant pastor Mike, and will serve in the role of an intern until the time comes to grow into an associate or assistant pastor title. By default, that adds me to the collection of staff wives, where I'm blessed and honored to be among other outstanding women in our church. Thank you again, Towerview!!

.: FOUR :.

My first order of business as a "staff wife" at Towerview?
-- Skipping choir practice!

Haha. well, it wasn't by plan; unfortunately this was the only opportunity we had over the weekend to rendezvous with my parents in Indianapolis [halfway, oy...] to trade off a monster. Sydni's been with my family for the past week, on a mini vacation [for both her and for us!] with the grandparents. This time worked out particularly well, since my family was here last weekend to visit, and took her during the hectic week that was RFL prep time. Funny how that works out.

little sassy pants.... ;)
It's crazy how I can miss this little bug so much just over the course of one week, but I'm so glad she's home. We're home too, and thoroughly spent. I'm gonna go pretend I don't have to work tomorrow :p.
