Random Messages

Ever have one of those days that just... get really weird, really quickly?

Well, the day itself didn't prove to be that far out of the ordinary, but it was a coincidental slew of unrelated messages that popped up early on that made me both smile and simultaneously feel that cringe of reminiscent feelings of things and times long gone by.

First, my cousin Corey, who I haven't seen in a solid number of years due to his current residence in Vegas: He sent me a picture of a dry erase board that a friend of ours and I scribbled out to him one morning after he'd been kind enough to host us in his apartment. This is nothing to most, but to me, this is a 13ish-year-old dry erase board that somehow stayed untouched all this time. Haha.

Secondly, came this, out of the blue from Kalyn:

*tear!

We're hopefully going to see Kalyn at the end of this month when we head her way en route to the Smoky Mountains; we planned a weekend around her and I have a feeling it'll be amazing :)

Lastly, I received a random but wonderful note of love from Rob's mom!

I couldn't think of a much better way to start off the week than feeling the love the way I did today!
Here's to the rest of the week being equally empowering :)!

Because Why Not?

I'm having a hard time, still, accepting that November is HERE. I don't know why, but my brain is refusing to acknowledge that the last two months of the year are all that's left of 2013.

promising cast!
I'm not alone. Rob made a goofy face this morning when I said something about it being November. So, to mark our resistence to the dead sprint to 2014, we watched, This is the End.

Bad idea. That movie's just.. not... that great. [Sorry, if you enjoyed it. I was disappointed because I really enjoy the comedic abilities of all the main characters; it was.. just... not quite what I expected.] Rob and I sat and stared at each other for a few minutes once the ending credit reel hit and decided we needed to do something much more exciting for the day.

And so we did!
Out came the Harley, and out went he and I, first to his mom's house for a quick visit, and then off in a search for ice cream. Yes, it's November.. Yes, we were on a bike all day, and YES, we got ice cream. NO.... I don't regret that decision even an ounce. Haha.
harley + ice cream (:
So that was that, and we found ourselves back at his house just as the evening air starting to find its briskness again. I had every intention of packing up and heading out, back to Ohio for work tomorrow, just like I do every other time I come out to visit.

I did.
But... somehow I ended up with a four-legged stowaway in my passenger seat, trailing at some intervals behind a red hatchback with Illinois plates and the silhouettes of a driver and a floppy-eared passenger in it. Hmmm?

Ok, so yes, we decided at the last minute that Rob was going to come to Ohio for the week.. and bring the meatballs along for the visit. We are taking our random activity to a whole new level with this one. Haha. (:

Anyway, that was about five hours ago or so, because POOF, hello again, Ohio!
Aaaaand, Sydni comes back tomorrow. So YES, let's see what we can do this week...

G'Nite!

Enjoying Life's Funny

[backdated, primarily due to lag in photo editing ;)]

So a few days back, Dawne propitioned me with having Syd over today for a sleepover with Luke, Olivia and Max. No brainer. I love that she gets the kiddos together on the weekends just to hang out and have fun together; I'm so fortunate to have someone like her that genuinely cares so much for the kids she watches.

Before we got to going over there, though, Sydni insisted on showing me what she would look like dressed up in mama's gear. If there was ever a time I would call MINI-ME, this would definitely have been one of those pinnacle moments, to date.

itty bitty hipster
I didn't realize I'd have a little neffhead so early on. Haha. It was adorable, and even though there maaaay have been some tickling involved to coax a camera smile out, we managed to capture the moment, and I love it.

Speaking of mama/daughter things, we did some experimenting with braids today. I did one on myself [5-strand], and Sydni got her very first french braid.

Hold on. Let's rewind to SYDNI ... got her VERY FIRST... french BRAID.
... Someone call Guinness! Haha. Kidding, but see for yourself!:

hold. the. phone.... we have hair now!!!
And for the 5-strander....

it took a little while, but i think we've got it now!
I dropped Sydni off at Dawne's early in the afternoon; the other little ones were already there, anxiously awaiting Sydni to come and complete the squad of mini's for their big slumber party. I met back up with Rob and we headed out to South County to pick up something for his truck [boys and their toys ;) ]. It was then lunch at 54th Street and a cruise through the South County Mall. It ended with no purchases [kudos to both of us, but moreso to me.. on that one], and we made our way back to his place. He took care of some random stuff around his house while Sasha kept me company.

some good old pibble love ;)
In the typical fashion of most weekends with Rob and me, we didn't have much - okay, nothing - set in stone as far as plans went, but it worked itself out with us playing it by ear. We wound up stopping by to visit the newly-renovated house of one of his friends/former roommates, then the lot of us opted for pool and food. Low key. Good call.

That turned into us hopping around to a few different places before we finally landed at Bindy's for the night. Not a bad way to end an evening. And of course, if you can manage some funny pictures from it all, then that's all you really need ;)

edited... just for fun (:
oh my. hahaha...
.. one stole my beanie & the other one's [still]
waiting on chinese takeout.... goooo figure ;)
That's a wrap, folks. (:

Random Outing....

Rob tried bubble tea today. Haha. I don't know whether or not he actually liked it, but I had a great time and I definitely can't complain. We thought to take a trip over to St. Louis and wound up at St. Louis Bubble Tea, right in the midst of what was apparently a campus-wide ice sculpture festival.

I did find some cool sculptures...

Rob and I were definitely on Zumiez mode today; I realized that when we walked out of two different aisles in one of the campus shops and looked like brand reps from the Z. Haha.

zumiez addicts......
We'd burned most of the daylight out of the day and still hadn't made it back down towards Belleville. We decided to stop by Alton and found ourselves at Fast Eddie's for a few hours. We ran into some new people and made ourselves quite comfortable chatting it up with some random folks until we found some sunglasses on the floor [love that...]. Yeah, Rob still has them in his car.

rvca, a rum runner & some floor shades. call it a good night (:
One of the things I so appreciate about Rob is that he's about as spontaneous as I am, and when the agenda consists of a blank slate, it comes in handy. We had no plans one second, and the next we were off on our way to Collinsville to catch an appearance of Aaron Kamm & the One Drops. I totally dig barefoot guitarists, so this was a perfect way to round out the evening.

My Friends Are Random, Too

If there's one thing that I hear on a pretty consistent basis, it's that I'm random. Well, that's true. However, I decided I should shatter some assumptions that I'm the only one of that litter that conjures up completely irrelevent and unexpected news on a regular basis.

I was in Cincinnati a few days back and shortly thereafter received this message from Catie. Please disregard the comment from me about moving home; that's something of a joke, but otherwise please see for yourself the moment of candid randomness that is just one element of why she's one of my favorite friends.

Good stuff.
Mainstrasse. Stroller. Cat.
I love it.

That was obviously a few days ago, but I'd completely forgotten about it and I felt I should really lay to rest any suspicion that I'm a unique breed ... lol.

That, or it's an Ohio thing.
One of the two.
Happy random day, bloggerbees! Go do something unexpected (:
