Random Outing....

Rob tried bubble tea today. Haha. I don't know whether or not he actually liked it, but I had a great time and I definitely can't complain. We thought to take a trip over to St. Louis and wound up at St. Louis Bubble Tea, right in the midst of what was apparently a campus-wide ice sculpture festival.

I did find some cool sculptures...

Rob and I were definitely on Zumiez mode today; I realized that when we walked out of two different aisles in one of the campus shops and looked like brand reps from the Z. Haha.

We'd burned most of the daylight out of the day and still hadn't made it back down towards Belleville. We decided to stop by Alton and found ourselves at Fast Eddie's for a few hours. We ran into some new people and made ourselves quite comfortable chatting it up with some random folks until we found some sunglasses on the floor [love that...]. Yeah, Rob still has them in his car.

One of the things I so appreciate about Rob is that he's about as spontaneous as I am, and when the agenda consists of a blank slate, it comes in handy. We had no plans one second, and the next we were off on our way to Collinsville to catch an appearance of Aaron Kamm & the One Drops. I totally dig barefoot guitarists, so this was a perfect way to round out the evening.

Birthday Salutes & Freezing Toes

HAAAAAAPPPYYYYYY BIRTHDAAAAAAY!!
[fb hack!] happy birthday, becky!!
Oh gosh. How much do I miss this woman? A LOT. It's been fairly recent that we've managed to swing some over, overdue increments of hang-time, and now I'm left counting down days until she gets here to St. Louis to visit. Woops, how rude! This is Becky, for anyone just tuning in. She was the RA of my first college dorm, and we've been friends ever since. She's pretty much awesome, and she's pretty much having a birthday today. We'll celebrate in City Museum style when she gets here at the end of the month; in the meantime, happy BIRTHDAY, woman!!! xo!

Sunday carried its usual regimen of church, music, hilarious friends, and a day of undisputed laziness with no agenda. Joe packed up to head out of town yet again for work, and I set my sights on striking off some listed to-do's [hint: preparation for Mo's baby shower?? Just a hypothetical.... ;)] I finished most of that up with enough time to make the jaunt to Clayton a leisurely one.

Clayton?! Yeah, that's right - volleyball is still outdoors on Sundays [for now]. I think we're stretching the line  of tolerable playing conditions. Haha. That sand was literally cold to the point of stinging. Heather and I finally ceded to the little sand needles after game 8 or so. Brrrr.. Perhaps it's indoor season. [[Man, I miss Grand Sands! :( daggonit, Loveland.. haha]]

Welp... here's to another work week
It's gonna be a good one (:

Nana & Pappy!!

Today was an incredible day!
Well, it started comically because I apparently need coaching on how to read an analog clock that isn't labeled with all 12 numbers individually. I've never had an issue with my watch [you know the type, the two hands and then only four dots indicative of 15-minute segments] until last night, when I obviously misread when trying to reset my clocks. There's a bout of ridiculous construction happening in our townhouse complex; I noticed the 3-foot deep trench circling halfway around my building Thursday night on my way home from work, and yesterday there was a collection of Bobcats parked in various spots around the yard and parking lot. At some point during Friday, they managed to knock out our power, so to bring that story full circle, reading my watch correctly would've been nice, since I proceeded to reset all the clocks an hour fast.

*High five, Cori.

The best part about all of that was that it was last night, and I didn't realize it until I was heading down the highway entrance ramp en route to Lambert. I finally looked at the clock in the car and it definitely read 8:30am, not 9:30. I took the opportunity to make a pitstop at the Fifth Third over in Clayton to deposit the check the USPS finally sent me in response to my begging to fix my damaged camera. I happened across Companion, an adorable deli at which my parents and I later stopped after we met at the airport. It worked out for the best, because a mini farmer's market was well underway by the time we made it back to Clayton, so of course we scored some fresh veggies before brunch.

On our way back from MO, we stopped in Glen Carbon, more specifically the Goodwill and Slackers. Mom and I found a dresser we decided we had to have for Sydni's room, and Dad took Sydni to the Petsmart to oogle at the puppies outside at the adoption fair.

We finally made it back to the house, where we ate lunch and then spent the rest of the day playing outside and catching up on any and all family happenings since the wedding. I seriously wish Joe were here.

To wrap things up, Mom and I made some incredible veggie stir-fry for dinner, and after we were all fed, it was one more round of Finding Nemo (this movie......) before bathtime, teeth-brushing-and-flossing, bedtime story, and bed.

Church tomorrow. :)
