Ikea Part One: BUILT!

Remember when I mentioned the little outing Rob and I took to Ikea a few weekends back? Well, those boxes have been parked smack dab in the middle of his basement floor since we got them in the house. Tonight he decided he was going to break into the TV stand boxes and put that sucker together. I had offered my assistance back when we bought the stuff, but ended up just laying idly by nursing my migraine as he went to work and had the stinkin' thing put together in no time at all. It's amazing how having a handy guy around changes things; it's kinda nice not having to build all the furniture myself.. haha. Really, though, this thing looks nice! Stupid me didn't take a before shot of the set up, but this new stand is definitely sharp looking (:

yay, ikea!
And uhhh, yeah. Other than getting out for dinner with both Kelly & Mike, this was the highlight of the evening. We're exciting, I know.

Oh, and I may or may not have.... but probably MAY.. in fact DID... snag this today. Ali got the same one. We won't be hanging out on July 4th together [sad, sad face...], so it's okay (:

trueeeeee story.
... except kansas.
make that 49 states of awesome ... and kansas.
jk. :)

So uhhh.. yeah :) Not a bad little day, even in my current phase of sinusitis [okay, I don't really have sinusitis, but it feels like it....]. Time to call it a day and SLEEP [aka, poor man's remedy]. GO AWAY, SINUS PAIN!

OWLi .. Is Awesome (:

I have an awesome friend, and I want you to meet her.... (:
little trinkets from ali!
Today was one of those chaotic days during which I often forget to just take a breath, stop for a moment, and remember that I have awesome people around me.

Ali made a trip out on her lunchbreak and, in an unwarranted act of awesome friendness [yeah, I said it, friendness], came back bearing these OWLsome little things for me. She rocks.... and for the record, those fleece owl pants could've been printed with neon hearts and I still would've worn them because they are so... stinkin'... comfortable. That's a big old WIN. Thanks, friend!!
just.. like... mama... haha
^ Yep, and just in case you thought my fantastic day ended at work.... I came home and found myself cozying away an evening with this little munchkin. She's turning into a little techy [in addition to her outdoorsy side; please don't think my kid is a couch potato!]. She insisted on watching a Barbie movie on my laptop, and much to both my awe and terror, she figured out how to set the entire thing up.... on her own. Holy smart toddler. Haha. Ohhhh.. I've got my work cut out for me.

No complaints though ;)

Slackers | Tom Hanks | Old Navy

One of my favorite things to do is explore new places. If I live or work there, it also kind of becomes a necessity; otherwise I’m perpetually lost each time I get in the car. I had caught a grapevine drift of a music/records/cd dig called, Slacker’s. I had put it on my to-find list, but hadn’t gotten around to finding it.

Until today.
I work across the street from Slacker’s.
Sweet.

Let me rewind to Father’s Day, when I gave Joe a checklist of every movie in which his actor-crush, Tom Hanks, has starred. I also included three of his movies. Today on lunch, I swung by and snagged another T.H. flick, which I would’ve bought the first time had I known we didn’t already own it.

My second stop on lunch was at Old Navy, where I’m finding I enjoy their kids’ section far more than their adult section. I still remember those logo T-shirts that for some reason wallpapered all the hallways in my high school for a whole one year when I was a sophomore. Weird.

Anyway, grabbed those little cuties, which are even cuter in person because their size makes them that much more adorable. Armed with my movie and my shoes [let me make note here that neither of these were actually for me; hooray for disciplined shopping!], I headed back to work, then back to my house to watch the new movie with my husband and watch our daughter parade around in her new shoes. That worked out well.

TGtomorrowIF!
