Human Crayons at Lattitudes

Yep, that's right.

I was more than ready to hit the road after work today, mainly because I made the decision to skip lunch and get more work done instead [idiot....], and was therefore a bit on the hungry side.
are we done yet?
Rob and I decided to stop by Lattitudes, the little spot just down the road from us. He snagged a burger and I made a meal of the hummus.
nom nom nom!
Oh, and human crayons. Crayola-clad people jogging up and down the sidewalk in front of the place.
run boys, run!
This folks, is the type of random antic I usually see when I'm alone, and stand next to no chance of being believed by anyone else. Haha.

.. Which reminds me, I need to go running.

I'm out! ;)

Crafty Crayons

Hi and bye, Saturday!

Today flew right on by. Sydni and I took full advantage of some time at the house to tackle a little experimental craft project we've been putting off for a couple of weeks now. It's been done and done and done again, but we had yet to check this off our list. Crayons! :)

Step 1: Pick your help. That's the most important part to any good partner project. My choice?

my excellent and very eager helper!
she did a superb job!
Step 2: Prep work. Peel crayons, pick your color combinations, and get 'em ready. A note to any who think that going any 'brand' other than Crayola may provide inferior quality - nah. We went cheap-o and were completely satisfied. It's all personal preference though.

colors galore! peeled, finely chopped...
Step 3: Arrange for the baking.... and do so at 350 degrees for as long as it takes for the wax to visibly melt. Keep an eye on these things - I noticed that the shapes filled a little less started to smoke just slightly once they were melted to a certain point.

bright!
Step 4 [if you're in my house]: Don't forget to take a picture of them before they're fully cooled and your daughter dashes off with them to hide them in a special place in her "castle." LOL. Trust me, once I find those things, I take a picture. They turned out really well! I would suggest, though, if you're going to use the method we did [cookie cutters in a pan], wrap the bottoms of the cookie cutters in aluminum foil so that there's no leaking out of the wax once it starts melting. We only had some minor melting, but I'll remember this for next time.

Step 5: Relax. Craft time is taxing. ;)

adore. adore. aaaaadore.
We'll see you tomorrow, friends :)

Gospel According to Joe :)

My husband was blessed with the opportunity to share a message for our church this morning, and we were very blessed to hear it. If ever I needed a small, boosted pep talk in regards to setting, reaching, and maintaining goals, today was the perfect opportunity to soak in all that I needed as far as that was concerned. I felt it would be a bit awkward to photograph the actual message in progress, but I did capture a snapshot of scrapbook-esque quality. :)

As a sidenote, if you need the Workout Regimen for Slackers, let us know, and we'll be sure to shoot you a copy ;) Sorry, just a little humor for anyone who heard the message today and thus heard my husband explain how he works out for 5 hours. [[Joking, joking. We'll tease him for this one for a while!]]

After lunch, we headed with the Babots to lunch, where we ran into Julie, Jarod, Becky, and Becky's mom. The lot of us decided to join forces and make a production out of it, so we landed a little alcove room at Olive Garden and laughed our way through lunch.

Once home, I launched into some around-the-house to-do's, including some laundry, cleaning, and dishes; I was certainly not without my mostly-reliable little helper, of course. Halfway through our mission to clean up the living room, Sydni got sidetracked with a Dora the Explorer butterfly net and some crayons. The end result was her capturing all the colors so that she could build them into a square of artwork on the floor. I couldn't believe it when she came running to me proclaiming, "Square! Square!"

Well, square, indeed. I'm so proud. Way to go! I'm sure this type of cognizant milestone really isn't uncommon amongst kids her age, but I struggle enough as it is with remembering that she's no longer an itty bitty infant in burrito-esque swaddle blankets. She truly is a miniature adult, and quite frankly, it's mind-blowing. :)

Well we have had some sort of Sunday here. Tomorrow it's back to the reality of work and daycare and all the other razz that the weekdays throw us.

We'll see ya there!
