Barking Kids & Tied-Up Friendlies

I'll tell ya what.. this girl.... haha..
Kids are awesome. Seriously. Funny, weird, messy... and awesome. Mine is no exception.
Today was a pretty good day, all things considered, and hanging out with my mini first thing after work is like the icing on a cake. Seriously. She's hilarious. And although I find it inconveniencing at times whenever we're anywhere and we have to stop for a 1-minute ride atop Sandy the Meijer horse, I have to stop and remind myself that these little moments won't last forever, and the world is big enough for me to relax and allow her to have them.
sandy the meijer horse!
In other news, the USWNT ladies took on Japan tonight, and although I'm not sure how I stayed awake through the entire game, I did it, despite the dismay of ending with a tied 3-3 match. Ladies, we're cheering you on from Cincinnati, and you blogbots will be seeing plenty of weigh in here on their Road to Rio as we get going. Oh, and sidenote: SUPERIOR PLAY, EQUAL PAY. 'Nuff said ♥.

An uneventful Thursday, really, I know.. but hey, it was what it was and tomorrow is Friday and YAY. :)

See you then!

Pibble. Swag. Owls. Horses. Falafels & Origami. [Oh My!]

I woke up to this [on my phone] today:
hiiiiiiii, meatball! [aka, stella] ♥
I miss my dog :(. Rob said she spends the majority of the morning "talking," which sounds about right, before she and Stella hit the kennels for the day. Aww, the meatballs...

It looked like our day at work was going to be much more hectic than it actually turned out to be... which was probably good since we were itching to take a second and explore the latest box of logo'd swag from our corporate office.
express.. keepin' it classy ;)
Yes, that's right, the glasses and the mustaches on sticks have our company logo on them. Welcome to the power of brand repetition. We. Logo. EVERYthing. Haha. Elisa and I had some fun... wonder what they'll send us next?

Becky texted me midday to see if I had plans after work. I figured it wouldn't kill me to push off the personal trainer one more day, so that I could get down there and pick her up from the airport. She sent me these drom her layover... it's like my friends know what kinda goofy stuff makes me smile?
owls everywhere. i love it.... (:
Cute. So yeah, it was off to CVG for the second time in a week's time. From there it was dinner time, and surprisingly enough, we came to a decision without defaulting to the Comet. Good call, too, on Becky's part - we found ourselves at Andy's Mediterranean Grille over off Nassau, a place I'd not been since probably my sophomore year in college.
samosas. pita. falafel. shish tawook! yummmm.... | andy's | cinci, oh
GOOD CALL!
I made an itty bitty box out of the napkin wrapper while we were at dinner, but the remaining square was juuuust a little too small to fashion the horse I wanted to go with it. When I got home though? Different story. Haha.

horsigami! ;)
Ahhh. Good stuff. Haha. It's getting late, and I've just caught up with Becky and her New York adventure [& some amaaazing pictures!]; it's time to get some sleep and get ready for tomorrow.

Hey, Little Horsie!

Back in the day, back in the ‘Vern, when I was but a tot….

Okay, well that may be a slight exaggeration of the country bumpkin that I was growing up, but it’s still a fact that I spent a lot of time barefoot, and a lot of time on the Fowler farm with my buddy Lisa and their slew of farm creatures. Some of my best memories involve day-long horseback rides out onto the plains and pastures on the Fowler properties and finding all kinds of things to poke, prod, and explore. Thinking back, it’s a wonder we never got attacked by an angry animal or contracted some bacterial disease from jabbing around the inevitable find of some poor carcass.

Still, I didn’t realize at the time that I was learning to ride, to saddle, bit, shoe, and break a horse, day by day. I’ve loved horses since I was a kid, and so when we decided today to go trail riding, I was all for it.

Fact: Trail riding is pretty boring for someone who’s ever ridden a horse freely, for fun.
Fact: Observing the behavior of people who’ve never stepped within 30 feet of a living horse, let alone sat on a moving one, is hilarious.
Fact: The stable hand at the dude ranch we visited today hails from central Kentucky, which is still considered our neck of the woods in relation to Cincinnati. Since this is his daily job, he had plenty of stories to share of the antics people can create just trying to ride a horse moving at 2mph down a straight line.

We had fun, no less. There was a couple that showed up with their 2-yr-old son, who sat nervously still between his daddy’s legs and the saddle horn of a gentle Appaloosa for the first ten minutes before he realized he was safe. By the end of the trip, he was waving at the other horses and telling his Mommy on the horse behind his that their horses were best friends. We are having the greatest time on this trip, but deep down we both can’t wait to share an experience like this with Sydni.

The rain came like the blink of an eye, right at the 5 minute mark after we had all finished the trail and returned to the stables. The raindrops were those meaty ones that almost sting when they hit because of their weight. We took the opportunity to head back to our cabin and relax with the storm serenading us. We made dinner in our kitchen, ate together at the table, and cozied up in PJ’s to take full advantage of doing absolutely nothing.

This is proving to be one of the greatest weeks, ever J
Tomorrow is souvenir day. I’ll have to suck it up and pay full MSRP on some stuff, I know.
