Day 7: Tee. Gee. Eye. EFF.

What a Friday!
Moreno diet:
Breakfast: check. Lunch: check. Dinner: half check.

Rewind, and let me take a moment to say,

"THANK HEAVENS IT. IS. OVER!!!!!"
what, the diet?
no.
So here's a true story:

On Monday of this week, I received a phone call from my best friend's boyfriend. He currently lives out of state and had one of those area codes you're wary to answer because you don't recognize it. I did answer though, and found out he was planning a surprise visit to see her this weekend. I then found out she already had an obligation for Saturday, and it was basically my responsibility to create an excuse legit enough for her to become available for the weekend. He would be flying into town on Friday [today] and I was to then have a controlled circumstance arranged for the big surprise.........

Right.

Sooo.. on the fly, I recruited the help of another good friend and created a "private charity mission" that included a brief yet specifically timed Florence, KY pitstop for my best friend's favorite -- and I mean, fa-vor-ite artist, the one and only Ms. Alison Krauss. Oh yeah, we included Jerry Douglas and the cast of Union Station in that package, too. [[What was I thinking? I don't know.]]

Long story short, for the last four days, I have been on pins and needles with a knot in my stomach because of the elaborate lie under which I'd been living with my accomplices. I'm not big on lying, especially to my best friend, about meeting her favorite artist, ever. Holy cow. So anywho- on Monday she thought she would meet Alison Krauss that weekend. On Wednesday we broke news that the 'plans' had changed [aka, meeting cancelled]. On Friday, I again had to fib my way into the absolutely security of a dinner appointment with 4 chairs for just her and I. At this point, I'm sweating bullets. And then....

You can't read that note, but it read simply, "Surprise Kalyn!" was delivered to our table by our server, and couldn't have been more timely.

Needless to say, day 7 was lightly spoiled. I say lightly because while we ordered edamame, I followed that with half an edamame grilled cheese and some sweet potato fries. We. Had. To. Call it extinuating circumstances. I'll run them off. Promise.

After dinner, I drove home to rendezvous with my incredible husband, who'd driven that 6 hour stretch from IL to OH to spend the weekend with his family.

Weekend, weekend, here we go!!

¡El sexto día está en ruinas!

Well, not entirely. Sticking to day 6 of the Moreno breakfast and lunch was a breeze.. but in case you missed it, yesterday was Cinco De Mayo, a day which Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati college students apparently celebrate by drinking cheap margaritas and eating burritos. [Hello, Rio Grande]

So umm... we opted to partake of the festivities, although I must admit I wasn't even a tiny fan of the margarita. Sorry. Dinner was served. Dinner was not on the Moreno Menu. BUT.. It was dinner, it was Mexican, and it was g-double o-d.

I'm a huge proponent of honesty, especially when I've screwed up. I'll be the first to admit I'm not being a saint with this diet -- training thing, but I think that out of 21 meals, I'm averaging 17-18 on point each week. Sure, it's not perfect, but neither am I, and eating plain greek yogurt every day is a couple marks short of an awesome time.

^That's me justifying myself when I stray. I know, I know. Shame on me. Oh well.

Here's proof of the dieatry debauchery that was... Cinco De Mayo, 2011.

[Five.] Oh, My Poor Little Sicky

Cycle Two. Day Five.

I'd had everything mapped out today as far as taking lunch and preparing my mind to cook dinner.
6:45 AM rolled around; I was dressed and ready to wake up little boogie to get her ready.

My poor little sicky.

^ This is how we spent the majority of the day :(

We battled a fever, finicky appetite, and tossy-turny naps for the majority of the day. This is my first experience in motherhood calling off work to stay home with an ill baby.

The good news is:
I had the opportunity to spend nearly the entire day with her, as heartaching as it was looking into tired little eyes.

So as it pertains to the 17-Day thing, we did well today. There was no excuse not to.

Feel better, boogie.

[Four] : A Letter

Dear Tuesday,

Well hi there... You know you sure were pretty amped for being Monday's shadow. I had a few things I wanted to share with you.

First, no. I'm not going to go on a tirade about the death of Bin Laden. It's late in the game to start speculating on the whole thing, and quite frankly, there's more than enough coverages already. So yeah.

Secondly, you get the award for weekday of the wacky at work. It must be this perpetual soggy weather that's been melting the normal off these folks. The ones that weren't suffering from rainy day grouchiness simply wanted to call or show up in the form of a hot mess. Today you were in one of those moods, offering to send us that bucket of marbles that just make you wonder out loud, "hmmmm."

Oh yeah, and I ate more greek yogurt today. It's day 4 of cycle 2. I also ate another salad. And ran. Then I ate some chicken. And some veggies. You proud? I hope so. It took a lot - and I mean a lot to not stop at Chipotle and... eat.. it.... I didn't, I didn't! I'm sticking to this training, yessir, I am. I have no good reason not to; homemade food is the bomb.

Lastly, I've got to stop and just give the greatest praise I can muster to the awesome God I serve for supplying me with the support He has. There are a few specific individuals He's placed in my path at least three who have expressed support over just the past few days, especially in regards to the zealous ideas that came over me throughout the weekend:

One, my husband. My best friend, and the reason I believe in the power of a Christ-centered marriage. Joe, you are my partner, for as long as time is time. Thank You. One, at their request, I won't publicize: thank you. You are proof that the next generation of youth has a chance to embrace compassion for others. To the other, Mr. Sam Kelly, you took the time to counsel and advise me today, and for that I honestly am so thankful.

Tuesday, you silly thing....

You deserve a day off. Heck, take the next 6 off.
.... same time, same place, next week?

sweet.
 G'nite, Tues.

2. Two. Dos. Dalawa. [ And so forth ]

Day Two. Again. Cycle 2.

Remember this guy?:

[He's baaaaaaaaaaack] .. and still doesn't taste any better, but I must admit it's grown on me a little bit.

I'm paying due respects to this ever-present quintessential part of my daily eating habits.
Gotta say.... feelin' good! :)

Happy Birthday, Meagan!!

I'm adding this in homage to a diet plan again spoiled by one of the best excuses to spoil one's diet:
Hibachi.

Like I said before, I'm a sucker for rice and those un-aptly named chefs. (ours tonight was Justin).
I love it, love it, love it.

!! happy birthday !!
