#15 : Improvising.

... These magical little soybeans ...

Edamame is probably one of my favorite things, ever.
Oh now, don't you judge me...
This stuff's as healthy as it comes, if you take it sans all the salt.
I decided to liven up the day a bit.
Two days left in cycle one.
Not too bad!

Natural Colors! [14!]

chicken fajitas | roasting red & yellow bells

almond green beans
There has been lots of cooking lately.. and it's been deeeeelicioussss.....

One thing I've re-discovered on a whole new level:
Natural colors are gorgeous!
- red, green, yellow, orange, brown, white

Last night for dinner, KP & I made fajitas [sans sour cream or cheese: believe it or not, it's possible!], with a side of almond-speckled green beans. That was after a 2.5 mile run in the perfect drizzly haze that covered the park right down the street. Amore....

Today was all about chicken vegetable soup for lunch and turkey burgers w/fresh peppers & veggies on the side.

Only 3 days left in cycle one. I'll keep you posted on total weight loss & other details. I've gotta say, this isn't nearly as difficult as I'd thought it might be! Once you conquer kefir & plain greek yogurt, you can pretty much stomach anything. See ya soon!

Tales of a 'diet' surviving Easter....

Day 11. Saturday.

scrambled. eggs. yum.

picnics :)

Joe made it into town late Friday night, and graced us Saturday morning with his signature scrambled eggs. My parents drove down later around noon, and the first thing we did was eat. Thankfully, my mother is gifted with making home-cooked portable; she was ready to go with a picnic-style setup of chicken, salad, fruit, and pasta salad. While it was hard for me to limit myself from scarfing down everything she'd brought [hint: portion control!], I at least was at ease knowing there were no hidden ingredients or artificial anythings in what we were eating.

Day 12. Sunday. Easter Sunday!
First off, let's not [ever] forget the reason behind Easter. It's not about food. It's about a living savior whose sacrifice saved a nation. It saved you, and it certainly saved me. There is no other human being in human history deserving more honor and praise. Amen? Aaaaa-men! In regards to the celebration: I'm actually pretty proud of how well I did in spite of it being one of those family events notorious for chocolate bunnies and ham. No, I didn't stick to the meal layout for day 12, but, I did exercise a colossal amount of discipline and portion control. Did I eat the sweet potato bake? Yes. Did I eat my mother's rice pudding? Yes. Green bean casserole? Yes. Did I even it out with frequent trips to the veggie tray? Yes. I managed to fly under any suspecting radar by utilizing the smallest visible portions of almost everything, so as to not offend anyone. I would consider that a success, all things taken into consideration.

Day 13. More rain.

kellog road | coney island

clear creek soccer complex
Oh yeah, so yesterday as we were en route to Aunt Sis', we noticed that Coney Island is slowly disappearing beneath the flood waters that are overtaking so much of the area. *sad. The outdoor field complex where I play is also entirely invisible. The rain isn't letting up much this week, either. We'll have a lot of recovery once it's all said and done. [[Prayers for safety & strength going out to the midwest areas being hit with tornadoes & even heavier damage!]]

At least I'll eat healthy today.. something to start the week off right!

Stay dray!

Double Digits!

[ of cycle one]
.: 7 days left of cycle one.
.: 51 days left, total.

Oh, and happy Good Friday! 5:00 PM today will mark the beginning of what I'm sure will be a quickly-passing Easter weekend.... but a weekend nonetheless. I'm challenging myself to adhere as closely as possible to this 'training' plan as I can without offending the cooks in our family who specialize in holiday meals.

Today should be ok, though. I have no known hurdles to stall achieving my breakfast [done], lunch, or dinner goals.

Now if only the rain would take a day off..........

Day 9: Rice v. Cori

Do I really think rice is evil?
-- Of course I do. Now that I'm not supposed to eat it, the relationship rice & I shared for so long is now under some serious strain. Tonight I gave in. I had a momentary lapse that resulted after a volleyball [day 2 in a row] victory. Hibachi. People, I'm Asian. I'm drawn to table-sized stovetops manned by 'native' chefs with contradictory names like 'Dave,' and 'Jeff.' But more importantly,....

...I LOVE rice.
It's in my blood.

So tonight, after a long day of sticking to the regularly scheduled menu [blah], I managed to still get chicken & veggies.....and rice.

I fail, again. Craaaaap.
This week isn't faring well in the discipline department.
Easter weekend's gonna whoop me, too. I just know it. *sigh.
Good news is that I'm still losing a defiant lb or two every couple days. Even with this week's 3 minor setbacks, I still sense a misting difference...

lunch munch | ♥ bell peppers!

We'll hit double digits tomorrow. Woot woot.

...exhausted.
Night, ya'lll.

Eight. Well, most of it.

So I followed the rules for breakfast.
I rocked the requirements for lunch.
Dinner. Ummmm..

All I can really say is:

LEAGUE CHAMPS, OHHHH YEAH!!
grand sands volleyball | loveland
[[league champs, buddy!]]

Seriously.
My indoor soccer team finished as league champs 2 weeks ago, and tonight my volleyball team took top spot of the league championship at tourney... Not a bad way to say farewell to my [beloved] Cincy sports leagues.

Since it's been a LONG time coming, naturally, we celebrated by not just falling off the diet wagon, but pretty much diving off headfirst. One post-game word: Dewey's. 'Nuff said.

I don't care. Well, I do, because this is the 2nd day just this week alone that I've strayed from training protocol. Tomorrow will just have to be a big redemptive day, because with both Kalyn & I splitting out to different parts of the country, we had to celebrate [especially a victory!] properly. Don't judge. Haha.

KUDOS to my best friend [Kalyn] & our two power player [Tim & Paul] for puttin' a little soul in our tourney games tonight!

Once again, back to the plan tomorrow.
Yogurt, berries, salad, kefir, chicken.
For now, g'nite :)
